Spin-split collinear antiferromagnets: A large-scale ab-initio study

It was recently discovered that, depending on their symmetries, collinear antiferromagnets can actually break the spin degeneracy in momentum space, even absence of spin-orbit coupling. Such systems, dubbed altermagnets, are signalled by emergence a spin-momentum texture set mainly crystal and magnetic structure, relativistic effects playing secondary role. Here we consider all $q$=0 antiferromagnetic compounds MAGNDATA database allowing for spin-split bands. Based density-functional calculations experimentally reported structures, study more than sixty introduce numerical measures average momentum-space splitting. We highlight some that particular interest, either due to relatively large splitting, such as CoF$_2$ FeSO$_4$F, or because low-energy electronic structure. The latter include LiFe$_2$F$_6$, which hosts nearly flat bands next Fermi energy, well RuO$_2$, CrNb$_4$S$_8$, CrSb, metals.
